AFTER deciding to take the plunge and invest in a Just Cuts franchise in Cleveland, Vanessa and Matt Boland have quickly taken to spreading their wings.
They have operated Cleveland Just Cuts for nine months now and are in the process of taking on another project with their new Noosa operation only a few weeks away from opening.
As a result, this is a particularly busy time for them both.
The decision for them to buy into Just Cuts followed Matt’s inability to continue in his own career as an arborist after “20 years in the game” following a rush of injuries which curtailed his physical ability to continue in what is a physically demanding occupation.
So, he has transferred from one cut to another – cutting hair instead of trees.
That should be clarified – Vanessa and her staff are the ones attuned to cutting and styling – Matt’s area of expertise is in the background, looking after the marketing side of the venture and keeping Just Cuts at the forefront of the public’s imagination.
“The business is going really well,” he said.
Vanessa had worked with Just Cuts for 19 years, so was well versed in the operational side of things.
She will be heavily involved in shaping the new Noosa venture, getting things on track before a manager is appointed and she returns to her full-time role in Cleveland.
Between the two stores they will employ up to 16 staff.
Matt is a former Melbournian and as such has a big interest in AFL supporting the ever-improving Essendon Bombers.
He and Vanessa had a reasonable knowledge of the Redland Bombers and they both thought it the appropriate time to become involved with sponsorship of the club.
They are a Bronze Sponsor and both have become solid supporters of the Bombers.
“I was really surprised by the quality of the football. I didn’t know how big it was to be honest,” he said.
“I was initially totally amazed.”
He and Vanessa will continue to be big supporters of the Bombers and we urge all our supporters to get behind them as their business interests really start to flourish.
