It was originally planned for Round 2 but Matt Thomson will achieve an outstanding milestone when he plays his 200th senior game for the Redland Football club at home on Saturday against reigning premiers Southport.
Thomson’s durability and resilience has been tested this season however when he runs out on Saturday alongside another “milestone man” Craig Malone (100 games) it will highlight a journey that began many years ago in the Redland Sharks Juniors and culminates in joining the “elite” of Redland Football Club.
Malone, from just down the road at Alexandra Hills joined the Bombers in 2014 and has overcome a number of serious injuries to notch up 100 NEAFL games which includes games played with the Brisbane Lions Reserves and Mt Gravatt.
“Big Tiny” is having a standout season – and will be a bit more difficult than “Thommo” to chair off Scottsdale Park after the Round 16 clash concludes against Southport.
The Bombers have made one change with another Lions Academy debutant in Samson Ryan (from Toowoomba via Merimbula) making his first appearance at the expense of Jonah Licht.
